All CPE-approved ACT cards carry the same legal weight in Nevada. Choose based on cost, convenience, and, in some cases, which provider name your employer expects to see. Seven approved providers currently issue cards.

For background on who needs a card, deadlines, and exam content, see the complete ACT card guide.

ACT, TAM, AAT, Same Card, Different Names

The state calls it an ACT card (Alcohol Compliance Training). Most Las Vegas workers call it a TAM card because TAM of Nevada dominates Clark County. You'll also hear AAT card, AES card, or just "alcohol card." All the same state-mandated certification, the provider name on your card doesn't change its legal standing.

What Every Provider Has in Common

Which Provider Should I Choose?

Match the provider to what matters most to you.

Lowest Cost

AATNV charges $15, cheapest by far. Catch: no online payments, so you pay in person at their Las Vegas or Reno location. 360training starts around $6 online, though pricing varies and you still need to arrange a proctored exam separately.

Most Convenient Locations

Alcohol Awareness Card of LV runs five locations across the valley, so you're less likely to schlep across town. They hold a 4.8-star Google rating across 200+ reviews. AATNV covers Las Vegas and Reno, handy if you work in Washoe County.

Employer Recognition

TAM of Nevada is the name Las Vegas casino employers know. Many job postings say "TAM card required" when they legally mean "ACT card required." Any CPE-approved card satisfies the law, but showing up with a TAM card means nobody asks questions.

Online Training

TAM of Nevada, AATNV, 360training, and TIPS all offer online coursework. The final exam is still in person no matter who you go through. TAM gives you 90 days to finish the online portion before access expires. See the online ACT card training guide for a full walkthrough.

Portability to Other States

TIPS certification is recognized in multiple states outside Nevada. If you bartend seasonally or plan to work elsewhere, a TIPS card can save you from re-certifying. It costs more (~$40), but that's worth it if you move around. Details at TIPS training in Nevada.

What About Employer-Provided Training?

Some large casino and hospitality companies arrange group training through a CPE-approved provider, often at a reduced rate or free. If your employer handles your alcohol card, ask whether they cover the full cost and which provider they use. You still get a standard 4-year ACT card either way.

Watch Out For

After You Get Your Card

Valid for 4 years from the issue date. Renewal is the same process, no shortcut exam. If your card lapses while you're still working, see the ACT card renewal guide for how to handle the gap.

Every approved card is legally identical. Pick on price, location, and whether you want the name your employer already knows.
